Confusion and pleasant surprise might be what visitors walking past the north side of the school feel, when they see the beginning of the Grade 12 Art class's project, painting windows. Currently a test space, students are experimenting with tempera paint on the glass panes, then scraping it off to make images with the negative space. Next step is expanding to other classrooms, at least those of art-loving teachers;) so keep an eye out for these temporary murals: they look so cool!

Elemental Collages
Commercial Design 11 just finished a series of collages; the results were pretty cool. The project had them compose abstract images by exploring different principles of design (balance, unity, pattern etc) through the manipulation of elements of design (shape, colour, size, etc).

Stadeometer
Delvin Chung has created a beast of a sculpture. Standing over 7 feet tall, his measuring device- called a stadeometer, I learned- has a numbered measuring component, and an ingenious sliding block that rests on the person-getting-measured's head, making for very accurate height readings. Currently residing in Room 215, photos of this masterpiece can be found on the bulletin board on the south side of the school, near the office. Check it out!

Art 12 Comics
The Art 12 class just finished some amazing auto-biographical comics, many of which are hilarious. This was a very open-ended assignment. The only parameters: the story had to be about you, and it had to have actually happened -with plenty of room for embellishments, though! Here is a sample.
