Graphics 11: Personal logo

These personal logos are the result of a really in depth project for which grade 11 design students deconstructed letterforms, developed them, combined them together to form logos - all by hand. They scanned the images and loaded them into Adobe Illustrator where they used the Live Trace and Live paint functions to develop them further. There was a lot of exploration, development and experimentation going on, as demonstrated by the wide variety of designs resulting. I'm really pleased with the results and super proud of the students for the patience, determination creativity and independence that I requested/demanded of them right off the bat.

Graphics Design 12: Logo Design

A senior design project to develop your own logo as a designer. Emphasis on process takes another step forward in our grade 12 class in which we expect students to rigorously develop ideas and imagery and, similar to a math class, SHOW YOUR WORK!

GRAPHICS 9: LONG FLIP BOOK

These are flipbooks with around 100 frames drawn. The students have to incorporate pans, movement, transformations and zooms. I am consistently amazed by the inventiveness of the work.

COMMERCIAL DESIGN 12: ALBUM COVER DESIGN

Ellie McJunkin: Motion

Ellie has been experimenting with Slow shutter speed and came up with these amazing shots. I especially love the first one because it's SO abstract. These are really exciting images because they were so unexpected. evolving from a natural curiosity, a love of her subject matter and a willingness to experiment and put herself out there. They remind me of futurist paintings - so good.
